Brian Glass provides a compelling response to Natalie Lavery's LTE entitled, "Pipeline priorities profits and politics."
From the article:
"For the record we have 3,000 miles of high-pressure natural gas pipelines in Virginia now, plus 20,000 miles of lower pressure distribution pipes connecting 1.2 million customers. The Atlantic Coast Pipeline will add approximately 300 miles of new high-pressure pipeline in Virginia. That’s 10 percent more than we have now.
We can’t guarantee an accident will not occur, but it appears we have had a pretty good track record building safe natural gas pipelines for decades, and the technology now is better than ever."
